Adjustment and mental health

Although the basis for adjustment disorders is not well-known, some things can make you more probably to have an adjustment disorder. Between adolescents and kids, both girls and boys have the equal possibility of having adjustment disorders. But between adults, women are doubly diagnosed with adjustment disorders.

Stressful incidents

One or several stressful life incidents may develop an adjustment disorder. It can involve nearly every kind of stressful incident in your life. As well as negative and positive events can cause severe anxiety.

It can be:

  • Serious sickness diagnose
  • Issues in school
  • Divorce
  • Break up in relationship
  • Loss of job
  • Fiscal issues
  • Physical assault
  • Surviving a catastrophe
  • Retirement Death of a loved one

Your threat of an adjustment disorder may be bigger if you experienced anxiety in early childhood. Regular moves, and overprotective or violent parenting, family disruptions may force you to feel like you are not able to control events in your life. You may have problems in surviving when problems subsequently appear.

Other mental health issues includes:

  • Vulnerability to violence or wars
  • Life situation that are difficult
